Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a crippling and debilitating illness that weakens the nerve cells that control our ability to move, speak, breathe, and swallow. Early symptoms can include stumbling, difficulty holding objects, slurring of speech, and muscle twitching. MND Australia is the national voice of individuals suffering from this disease and their families. Through national advocacy activities our donation will help to ensure their voices are heard on important issues, including:
- disability support and services
- palliative care
- aged care
- support for carers
- research funding
In early 2019 I was delighted to have re-connected with one of my longstanding former clients and was devastated to learn that he had been diagnosed with MND. Having witnessed first-hand the crippling effects of this disease, I hope our support can help fund important research aimed at establishing effective treatments, and (ultimately) a cure.
